Hi, I have a 45g tank and I wanted to get a hawkfish. I was thinking about getting a flame hawk but someone told me that they are aggressive. Can someone reccomend one that wouldn't be a jerk or pick on my hermit crab, starfish, and scooter blenny. I might also get a cleaner shrimp soon so I need to make sure he won't bug that

Thank a bunch

A hi fin Perchlet (or "geometric Pygmy hawk") would be a good alternative. Although not a true Hawkfish, it looks and behaves so much like a hawk you'd think it was one. Great little fish, unfortunately I returned from vacation and mine is gone :(

Any shrimp will be an easy meal for any hawk so you'll probably have to make a choice between a hawk or shrimp but not both.

As for hawks, I had a longnose hawk that was great in my 28g nano for almost 4 years.

However, they can get territorial after a little bit so I would look at adding him in last or at least with your last batch of fish.

If you add anything after he is accustomed to your tank, he will kill it eventually.

Good Luck
