Which is quieter-external or internal overflow?

Will be setting up a 29g in the bedroom. A sump would be nice but controlling noise is an issue. The tank is not yet drilled but can be. Would an internal overflow or an external one be quieter, assuming a durso standpipe is used?

If you have Durso both internal and external are similar if you compare which one is quieter, but internal is more safe.

I have an internal overflow w/a durso and you can't hear it at all.

Internal from my experience. I never got my externals to work consitantly or quietly.

I like the internal with Durso. Very quiet. It is also less maintenance than the external. The siphon can break on the external.
