Which Live Rock

I have seen several varieties of live rock in the LFSs. One place had some that had halimeda and other organisms on it and looked full of life. At another LFS there was some rock that was fairly devoid of life other than a small amount of coralline.

Someone told me to stay away from rock that has caleurpa on it. Please give your thoughts.

Thank you,
Reid

Caulerpa can cause problems, Halmida isn't bad and it's a very slow grower. There are plenty of people who use it without any issues. Also coralline algae will grow over time and even though it looks devoid of life it's the bacteria growing on it and within it that matters IMO.
