I just bought a Nikon D80 and i was wondering what lens you guys were using to capture macro shots. Its coming with the nikor 18-70mm lens and the 70-300mm lens. I know those will give me good shots, but i am looking to get a lens that will do outstanding shots.

Thanks Dan.

Most people who shot true macro photos use the 100/105 macro lens. I use the 180 and some use the 50/60mm ones. However, the 100/105mm ones are by far the most common. Canon, Sigma, Tamron and Nikon all make them, and all are exceptional lenses.

As for a lens that can get outstanding shots, unfortunately that's 99% you and 1% lens.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up getting the Tokina 100mm F2.8 Macro Lens. It was reasonably priced and from what a lot of people they say they like it better than the higher priced models.
