I have a xti body and am looking at a couple of different macro lenses. I found a refurb. 60mm 2.8 for 329 or a 100mm 2.8 for 469. I know the concensus will probably be for the 100mm but with money being tight is it really that much better of a lens?
Both are excellent lenses. What do you want to use the lens for? The 100mm will give you a bigger working distance (about 4" more). This can be important if you are taking pictures through glass where you are limited as to how close you can get to the subject.
I was thinking primarily for reef shots, but would like to dabble with some nature shots as well. I currently have a 75g sps dom. tank but will be upgrading to a 180-240g eventually.

Yes. Its also very inexpensive compared to what it gives. This lens is an excellent value. That 60mm isn't going to cut it in a 240g. Heck the 100mm probably won't cut it. I'm want a 180mm to reach to the walls of a tank.
