Hi,

First of all 'Hello' to all...my 1st post on here!

Im looking at getting a Nem for my Tomato clowns.

Thought i would ask you guys which Nem would be best suited for Tomato clowns.

Im running with 2 x 50/50 T5 lights...Water depth is 18".

Thanks.

more info please!! and welcome

whats size tank is it?(im assuming one of the breeders, a 40g??) whats do you have for flow and filtration? what wattage bulbs do you have? how old is your tank?

now a BTA great first time nem and its the natural host for tomatoes.

flow is 24 time turnover per hour

24 gallon tank (dont worry once the nem gets too big wil move to my 100 gallon system which will be mature by the time the nem is ready to move!

2 x 36W 14000K Power compacts (T5)

was thinking a BTA...i understand there are Red BTA's what other colours are there?

also what feeding requirments of a BTA?...if hosted my my clowns will they feed it? or do i need to target feed with larger food?

Thanks

actually striaght pic config PCs use 5/8" dia glass on them hints t-5s.

but they dont work like t-5s even with a really good reflector.

I'd prefer more light than that for anemones, but I think quite a few people have successfully grown BTAs under PC...

the lights are the standard T5 lights that come with the D&D Nano 24G.

As per the spec of the Tank, it states the lights are T5.

What water conditions are bets for a BTA e.g. Ca levels, DKH levels, PH, SG etc??

Thanks

Your lights are compact flourescents, aka power compacts.

We use the term T-5's for the single bulbs that are 5/8 in diameter.

Compact flourscents are basically a really long bulb that is bent in half like a U.

Your lights should be Ok for a bta. Depending on your aquascaping it will probably sit up on your highest rocks.

The water parameters need to be constant more than anything but should be with the range. pH 8.1-8.4, sg 1.023-1.026, Ca 380-420ppm, dkH 8-12, PO4- 0ppm, NO2- 0ppm, NO3- 0ppm, NH3- 0ppm.

Also how long has your tank been setup?

Yes it is recommended to direct feed your anemone meaty foods (krill, shrimp, squid, silversides, etc.).

I have had great succes with RBTA's under power compacts in the past. I use strictly T-5's now with a particular combination of bulbs.
