Which Nano to Buy

There have been about a thousand different posts saying which one to buy. I am going to buy the 8g Oceanic BioCube or the 12g Aquapod. I have not decided yet because:

Which Cube can house a nano skimmer?

Which Cube is more likely to have something go wrong, I.E. pump failure, lighting failure, water condensation in the lighting fixture, fan failure, glass split, seam split, anything!!?!?!


Anyway, I have looked and found great answeres for some of my other questions but I really need these answered. I know that they make a nanoskimmer that will fit in the Aquapod. I have access to a Biocube and from what I have been told, it will not house this skimmer. Does anyone know for sure, do you have one?
Also, I have access to them both at almost the exact same price so initial cost is not an issue. Also, I am a DIY'er so if there are mods that you know of that will work well with one and not w/ the other let me know. I plan on using this for a long time. Through my college years I would hope. I am a sophmore.

Also wanted to add. How much sand? I have heard a lot of different perspectives.
Right now I have 3gallon w/ about 2 1/2in. of sand. Thinking maybe i will go w/ enough sand to just cover the bottem. Let me know what you think. Pro's cons and what-not. Anyway, yeah. Thank you.

dont worry about a skimmer for a nano.. water changes are more than enough....

K. I have definitly heard that using a nano skimmer is vital to the success of a nano tank. But the two pico's that i have are not equipped w/ any kind of skimmers. I do a water change everyother day though. So i dunno. Anyother thoughts. Thanks guys.

Chad... I'm also in the market for a nano and have settled on a 12g custom NanoCube from NanoTuners.com. The one I'm looking at has a 96w mixed light set-up, better circulation and a 'fuge light. I'd check there...

Thanks steve. However those are all a bit out of my price range. I can purchase one of the other cubes i listed at an employee price through a lfs that i work for. Thank you though. That will be a future endeavor I am sure, as i have bookmarked the page. Thank you again. gl w/ yours.

IMO the Oceanic is still to new to get accurate data on the failures your asking about.

I'd go Aquapod, with the extra 4 gallons you can get away with maybe 2-3 small nano fish. The 8 limits you to about 1.
