Which one?

Ok I'm getting a metal halide fixture and this is one that I've found: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=12779&N=2004+113352

Can I interchange the compact flourescent bulbs with a VHO bulb like this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=3805&N=2004+113174

Any help is greatly appreciated or if someone knows of a better setup than let me know!!

I'm thinking about retrofitting but I don't know much about it. If I got a MH retrofit and a VHO retrofit can I combine them together easily?

Yes. Mine were both retrofits. I have 2x250w MH XM 10k and 2x140w 60"VHO Super Actinics. I use 2 x 24" PFO parallel reflectors and light is very even.

yes i did that on all my tanks a workhorse 7 is what i use its cheap like 50 bucks and works forever as for the MH i use icecap or PFO custom hoods they both work and last that what i like about them. but MH and VHO are a perfect match i use that combination on all my tanks. best of luck BTW i DIY'd my own canopy with each so with a retrofit kit you cant just hang it like a PFO hood
