Which RO/DI unit?

I am looking at buying my frist ro/di and i am wondering which one i should get. I have been looking at the filter guys and i am torn between the ocean reef + and the ocean wave. The main differance being that one has an external DI canister and the other has a tiny little tube for di that sits horizontally on top of it. I have a 60 total system reef and do weekly 10% water changes (going to LFS is geting old) and wonder which system is best for me.

Are the inline TDS meters worth it? Do i need to do the flush valve addition?

Thanks

Nick

I got the Ocean Wave + and could not be happier with it. The Ocean Wave + is in between the two you mentioned and has a verticle DI filiter without the inline TDS meters.

Whatever you do, go with a verticle DI unit. I have heard they are much better and last longer.

I got the ocean wave a few weeks ago (the $135 one). I also got a TDS meter and a little fitting to hook it up to my bathroom sink faucet. It was up and running literally 15 minutes after it arrived. I've been very happy with it. Obviously since it's so new I cannot comment on the longevity of the device - but I suspect that it will withstand the test of time.

My TDS meter said I had around 160 TDS out of the tap, and 0 TDS out of the ocean wave.

Edit: I got a handheld TDS - I guess it works. And I'm not sure about the flush valve... I did not get that.

get the Ocean Reef +1 you will be happier with it. I have it its great everything you need is included. Talk to Jim before you order so that you get the right filters for your area

I love my 5 stage Ocean Wave. My tap water is 260ppm and I have been getting 0 ppm for 3 months now and have not changed filters yet. Thumbs up! They also have great customer service over there.

I'm getting ready to pick up this unit:
OCEAN REEF + 2 SIX STAGE 75 GPD RO/DI
Why get a +1 when you can get a +2 :)
I think +2 is better then +1 :)

From everything I've been reading (including exchanging emails with water purity experts), Spectrapure's MaxCap system is the absolute top of the line. With RO/DI, it's important to look at both the initial cost of the system and the yearly cost in terms of resin/filter cartridge replacement. Spectrapure systems aren't the cheapest (or most expensive) to buy initially, but tend to comparatively pay for themselves within a year - especially related to the exceptional longevity of the DI media. I just purchased the MC-RODI-90 (check it out at spectrapure.com) and can't wait to "hook it up"!
