I started with IO, now i use RC, IMO Tropic Marine is expensive at my lfs almost $80 a 5 gallon (treats 200gallons) bucket, i think most go for IO though, i wet for RC because of more calcium and trace elements.

Use Reef Crystals, going to try Red Sea Pro next as I hear it provides better calcium levels for people that use RO / DI water.

Will post my results once I try it.

I've used IO from day one and have never had a problem. Best part is when the lfs has buy a bag and get one free special. :D

I was also considering the red sea pro. I started originally with red sea salt, and liked it pretty well - much more so than the seachem marine salt I'm finishing up now...

I just bought 3 buckets of IO from petsmart for $35.99 each (they matched online price, their original price is $48.99). I used IO in the beginning, tried out RC (2 buckets) and really did not see any difference. I also drip kalkwasser very slowly 24 hours/day. My thinking is that RC may have a higher Calcium content but will be depleted if the corals were to use it up. So, you still need to dose calcium, mg, and alk anyway. It's not like the calcium and the rest of good stuff stay the same indefinitely. One pickling lime goes a long way. Washing soda/baking soda are very cheap, a pinch of epsom salt every couple of days replenish my Mg. IO is way more affordable. So, IO for me. JMHO.

Wow what a great idea Whisperer. Thanks for the tip. I think a trip to the local Petsmart is coming up. :)

Yep... I get buckets of Coralife (just because it is whats available at the moment) for $32 from Petsmart price matching. Just make sure you print the ad out and its exactly the same... they'll match it! Same thing goes with aragonite sand, FWIW. :)

Instant Ocean is a great product for the price. Dissolves easy and has been used for years. However is low in calcium so for the amount of supplements you'd have to buy.... I think Reef Crystals would be a good choice.

Reef crystals as of now. Reading up on red sea pro...

FWIW, Oceanic gave me horrible algea troubles, that was completely depleted as soon as i changed to RC. I'm not the only one that this has happened to..

I use Bio-Sea... I find it disolves more quickly and completely than IO. A bit low in alk and CA, but that's easily fixed.
