Which salt

what is your favorite salt for an sps reef. what gives the best Polyp extention and contains the most benificial minerals.

I use Instant Ocean, but not for the mineral content. I use it because it's consistent and does not give me any problems. In addition to your salt mix, you need a dosing schedule to add the things your salt might be low in and to replace the things your organisms use. For this, you will need to test pH, Alkalinity, Calcium and Magnesium. You can start an even longer and more interesting thread by asking what is the best dosing regimen. :D

I've been using IO / Reef crystals for a while now, but wanted to mix things up a little because the stupid salt wouldn't completely mix (there'd be alot of salt left on the bottom even when using 2 mj 1200's to mix 4 gallons of water).
I switch to tropic marin pro and I like it.

I used to use IO but didn't like the growth, color, or PE (maybe it was a bunch of bad salt batches that I bought but anyways). I switched to TM and like it so much better. It took only a day to see fluffier polyps and brighter colors. The corals are also growing much faster. The difference is amazing... although in the past I must say that I had good success using Oceanic. I had algae problems with it...but maybe that was because I was dosing too much iron. :)

I recently bought a bucket of TM Pro.
