which sand for eel

I'm going to be getting an eel, not sure which one yet, but my question is what kind of sand is a good choice. My tank now has crushed coral. Is that ok for the eel as well, or is there a better choice?

I, personally, would go with aragonite. Only because most eels like to bury themselves in the sand.

I've heard of rougher substrates scarring the bellies of eels. I'd go with something finer.
