Which seahorses require a chiller?

All. The chiller isn't necessary but from the info I collected when I was trying to do establish one, you don't want to have tropical temperatures. Anything over 75 is frowned upon just due to disease issues that occurs when the temperature is that high. Ended up just being too expensive to do a separate tank with seahorses so I never got to it.

Well I have an Ice Probe chiller for very small aquariums that I could let go cheap.
It's not recommended to put seahorses in small aquariums other than dwarfs in tanks around 5g.
Standard seahorses should be in minimum 29/30g for a pair, with an additional 15g for each additional pair.
The wattage of the Ice Probes is such that IMO, I doubt they will do much for a tank in the 30g size, (depending on ambient temperatures it might lower temps 2 to 3 degrees), and probably can't handle the range for temperate species that require 68° or lower temperature unless ambient temperatures are already close to the target range.

Whaterya talkin about! The thing uses a thermocouple. The advertise its good for 55 gallons.

Some sites just say it's good for smaller tanks, others say it's good for 1 to 30g, and a few have said 55g and smaller.
Irregardless, the ambient conditions will dictate mostly how effective it will be for any given tank.
I certainly wouldn't consider it for a tank at the 30g size as it would be too "iffy" as to being effective enough.

I agree....an appropriate sized chiller is a MUST HAVE.

True. For tropical seahorses (Erectus, Reidi, Kuda, Barbouri, etc) a chiller is, in a rare few cases, necessary, but for subtropical and temperate seahorses a chiller is mandatory.
