Which set up?

Catastrophi

Hello all! I plan on buying a used saltwater setup. I'm deciding between two options, a 75 gallon and a 100 gallon. Each has its own pros and cons of course. The 100 gallon is also priced about 300 more then the 75.

the 75 gallon is stuffed full with LR and the sump is better designed. The only thing lacking is the stand needs doors as well as it needs a canopy with lights, and it needs pumps for flow.

the 100 gallon has a lot of live rock but will probably need more. The tank is pretty dirty and the sump needs A LOT of work. The stand and canopy look nice though and its outfitted with 2x175 MH lights with 2 VHO lamps for supplements. It also comes with SWCD with mag 5 and a mag 7 for the sump return and skimmer. This setups also more expensive then the 75.

Heres the pictures of the 75

opinions?

75 for sure! Heck, that 100g looks kinda nasty, in a bad way. I'd stay clear of it, unless you're getting one hell of a deal.

Tough call... the $300 is worth the difference... but I think I agree with the previous posts... the 75g has WAY more potential. You will spend that $300 on getting it up to snuff... but in the end you will have a WAY better end result...

Just an opinion...

and that IS stuffed with LR!

Heck, could sell half of that live rock (( for a good amount of money )) and still have enough live rock. Could use that money to help offset the upgrades you want.

I'd take the 100. Bigger tank, (much) nicer stand, canopy, lighting. I wouldn't want either sump setup. You would replace the sand anyway and can clean up the LR.
