i am bias...never used the aqua mora but the coralife 125 i have and its by far a excellent effiecent skimmer. no complaints!

the negatives are very very minimual and most skimmers have the same. positives .....it works and produces skimate almost in 48 hours. the production of skimmate is totally controlled by how much you will empty cup and consider removal of saltwater with a high wet skim. as simple as a turn of the knob. very very sensitive to slight adjustments. and for its effectiveness it is cheap and affordably. cant stop raving about this skimmer! luv it!

My experience is with the RemoraPro only. I was very satisfied with it until I received Dan's skimmer - total difference in skimmate production!

So, my comments would be: It worked OK for my 75 but definately not great, it is VERY noisy in comparison - especially after a few months when the plastic components warp. Bubbles in the upper chanber are usually on the larger side - that said, it either produces a small amount of thick skimmate, or a large amount of thin wet skimmate.

I have an aquaC with a MJ1200, it's ok but from time to time I entertain the thought of getting a Coralife 125 super skimmer. My aquaC works better now then it did before....but I think I should have better skimmate production. Ionly get 3/4 cup every 1-2 weeks.

Coralife 125 super skimmer users.....how much skimmate are you producing in a weeks time?

Joe, just wondering what is the "best" pump to use on the AC....is it possible there is a better suited pump (from what I've read, the AC is a pretty darn good skimmer).

Keep in mind, all skimmers require regular (mine at least once/week) cleaning to maintain efficient skimming...including the riser and air-intakes (keep free of salt build-up).

As for the original question (to stay on-topic)...sorry, no experience with the two.

I do think that the AquaC with the Mag3 is the better AquaC, however they say not to upgrade the pump froma MJ1200 to the mag3 because the skimmer cant handle the bigger pump.

In Kris's case....just from what I have read....the aquaC with the Mag3 might be the best choice.

I have read posts where members have mod pump with anything from a Rio Hyperflow 8 or 10HF to a Mag 5 or a Hagen powerhead.

I've seen them on ebay where the seams looked warped and in need of O-rings. Or Collection cup is cracked. Kind of sounds like a fragile skimmer.

I think i will try the Coralife. I really need a Temp. HOB skimmer for 1 to 3 months. So this should fit the bill;)

Thanks for the input

Kris

Got home from work yesterday and my CSS 125 was here. Hooked it up. That thing is a work horse;) :) Very happy with it. Took out a 1/3 cup of dark green gunk. This morning its 1/2 full again with the same. I'll take a pic before i empty it today and post it tomorrow.

Great skimmer for the price. I have it setup hanging on my sump. I wanted to try it that way and try to avoid having it hang off the back of my tank.
