Which Streams for 90 gallon sps reef?

I'm interested in getting more current in my tank and was wondering what stream would be recommended for a 90 gallon. Would I need 2 or just 1 with this size tank? Since its a smaller tank would I be better off getting one that can be controlled?

The best choice would be the 6000- in combination with a single controller this would be kit TS07 formerly 6010. I would also recommend 2 7400/2 pumps and a multicontroller as another possibility that actually has more benefits in this smaller aquarium situation.

Roger, can you elaborate on these benefits? I am trying to make the same decision.

Thanks (and sorry if this is the 18th time that you've explained this)!

Ideally in any tank you use two pumps so you don't get any stagnant zones and you want chaotic flow. For smaller tanks the 7400/2 does a good job, the outlets are still proportionally large for the flow at 1". The pulsing creates good turbulence. The 7400/2 can also be used with mechanical filter cartridges and a carbon cartridge if needed to polish the water. The Stream 6000 would also work but in an aquarium of this size I think satifactory results can be attained as well with the 7400/2. On my 120 I run 2 7400/2 and I am pleased with the flow. On my girlfriends 75 which is set up for soft corals I am using 1 1600/2 and 1 7300/2 witha single controller and I think it is plenty of flow for what we intend to keep.

Roger,

This is Steve Bielamowicz from McLean Virginia. I purchased the turbelle stream kit on my 150 SPS tanks about 9 months ago and have been very happy with this system and I appreciate all the help that you gave me troubleshooting my cable difficulty.

I also have a 90 gallon softies tank (48x18x24 tall). I have a Dolphin 2100 connected to a pair of 1" SS as my sole flow. I would really like to increase the flow in the bottom half of the tank and am thinking about adding either the 7400/2 with multicontroller vs adding another stream kit. If I ever replace this tank with a slightly larger tank, the streams would be a better choice.

What do you think?

Steve

Yes, if you will be going to a bigger than 4ft aquarium and have no benefit to gain from particulate removal or carbon option the Stream would be the better choice. I would use a pair of 6000.

Roger,

I will need 2 6000 pumps, 1 multicontroller, 1 photocell and anything else?

What type clamps will I need to connect the pumps to my acrylic stand lip?

Thanks,

Steve

Photocell comes with the multicontroller. As for the clamps. if you have a vertical acrylic face you can attach it to, the dleivered hardware will work. If you can drill or cut a hole or notch it should work too. Otherwise you want accessory 3000.26 for perimeter bracing.

The Voltage and size of the transformer which is outside the tank- otherwise no difference.
