which tank does evap affect first?

i plan on installing an ATO. the question is with an overflow in the main and a return in the sump, does the water level drop in the sump first or the dt first?

alternatively - should the ATO be installed into the sump or the dt?

Since you have a return on your sump, the display will always stay the same. You will see evaporation in the sump. That's where you should put ATO.

The water in the DT remains constant due to the return pump/overflows moving at a constant; the sump will show the evaopration, and it's where the ATO goes.
