Which tank?!

Hello everyone! It's been a while since i've posted on the forum, haven't had tank to post about. I had a 75 Gallon tank, but i am moving friday and i had to sell it a couple months back. But i am already thinking of new tank ideas and i've narrowed it down to 3. I think. I am looking at either the Red Sea Max c130, the Red Sea Max 130D, or the JBJ Rimless 45 Gallon. If anyone has any options that are like these, i am 100% open to ideas. I really like the look of the Volcano Tank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0OxBzg2el4 i'm not super excited about how the tanks i listed are more cubey and not long and rectangular so any like that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you looking specifically for all in one tanks?

Yes, I'm only 18 and am currently using all my saved money to move from NC to CA and money will be tight. But, if i have to pick between an aquarium or eating well... Ramen Noodles never hurt anybody :debi: but yes, all in 1 is a must. Easier to maintain, looks clean and apartment complex can't complain :spin1:

Okay, just came across Innovative Marine's tanks and the 20 and 30 gal tanks are exactly what i'm looking for. But, it seems expensive. A 30 gal tank is $350 and doesn't come with anything except the tank. If it came with their skimmer, i'd say okay that's fair. Any ideas? The used tanks i'm looking at are in almost mint condition.

Glad you've already got your priorities in order. Eating vs reefing. Lol.[emoji12]

Okay so for an all in one I'd say the JBJ 45 RL is a great value level setup. 45 gallons will help you keep water quality stable and allow you to have a few cool fish. I saw they are on super sale at premium aquatics here's a link.

However if you can afford it and want something that is considered nicer and better quality I recommend the Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion AIO tanks. They have models at 10, 20, 30, and 40 gallons.

Another consideration is that most people end up upgrading almost everything in an AIO tank from filtration, lighting, pumps etc so although it may seem cheaper up front all of the upgrades may make an all in one more expensive. If you check your local reef club forum or craigslist you might be able to find a sumpless setup in the 40 to 75 gallon range for around the same price. Just something to consider.

Yes my first recommendation would be a used set up for example on Craigslist I often see 75 gallon reef ready tank stand sump for like $200 get a used skimmer and some t5 lights and some powerheads and you're set. But don't forget the rock sand rodi water salt test kits will cost just as much if not more than the tank in some cases.

Exactly, plus i don't think my apartment complex allows anything over 55 gallons so that's why i'm trying to keep it small. All in 1's, in my opinion, are the cleanest looking tanks out there. I found some Red Sea's, perfect condition, for around $350-400 and includes stand and all. But, i like the length of the Innovative Marines.

Okay so we want an AIO for sure then. I noticed earlier you mentioned a skimmer, it's very common for people to run all in ones without a skimmer. For instance let's say a 30 Nuvo Fusion weekly 5 gallon water changes should be more than adequate combined with live rock for filtration. I haven't seen any used fusions available yet otherwise I'd say start there. Iirc the Fusion 20 comes with LED lights whereas the 30 does not.

The only problem is, a feel like a 20 is too small, can't do much and even small fluctuations could have grave effects. The 30 will be a tad more forgiving. I wish this was easier lol. In the end i might have to go with Red Sea. Just contacted someone about a Red Sea 250, might have to bribe the apartment complex if they sell me that! I just feel like i need atleast 3 feet to work with to be 100% happy

I def hear us on the 3 feet. What's a Red Sea 250? 65 gallons ish? Tell em a 55 gallon is 4' long this is only 3'. I can't imagine they'd know enough to argue it with you.
