Which Turbelles for a 180 gallon?

I already have a 7095 Multicontroller that used to power two 6100s. I would like to upgrade my pumps. Two questions...

  1. What configuration of pumps (compatible with my 7095) with a strong, reliable mount would you recommend for a 180 gallon soft coral reef setup?
  2. I see the Tunze Photo Cell 7094.05 photocell, terminated with a connector, on Amazon for 17.95. Is this correct one for the 7095? I ask because I believe mine is soldered internally with no connector.

Any help would be appreciated.

The 6105's would be the equivalent of the 6100's, they are slightly stronger and the magnet holders will be strong on 1/2" glass which is typically what a 180 has.

The 7095.050 is the correct one for a 7095, 7094.050 is for the 7091, 7092, 7094, it has no moonlight. 7095.050 has a plug on the end but the 7095 had no plug from 2004-2009, in 2009 they added the plug, on older ones you have to cut the plug off and solder in the wires or send it in and I will do it for only the cost of the part and shipping.

Wow. $300 each. Would I really need 4 of them? At 3400 gph each, that would be 13,600 gph.

I would just use 2, their was a price drop March 1 to $285, but some dealers are still at the old pricing or somewhere in between.

Just a thought, make sure you don't have 6000's, they were the same as the 6100's but your power supplies will say 7210.202 11V 20VA, these were much weaker and may be why you had 4, they maxed out at about 1800 gph, the only difference was the power supply. Back when these pumps were available a 6000 was about $240 and a 6100 was about $300.

Ok Roger, I'm glad you mentioned this. The power supplies are indeed the 7210.202A version. So it appears I will need new power supplies as well.

I did not have 4 6100's. Only 2, using these power supplies. The reason I mentioned 4 pumps, I was thinking that 4 smaller pumps would be better than 2 larger ones, offering more flow variations. However, I suspect that the smaller pump mounts may not be strong enough the 1/2 inch glass on our 180?

I see, you could use 4 6095's, but I am not sure their is a real advantage, some redundancy is nice but 2 6105's will do the job well. The 6095 will also work on 1/2".
