Whirlpool Problem.

Some of you may be familiar with my 235g bow front build. I just filled it, it's up and running. But I'm occasionally getting a whirlpool effect from my return lines...
Now I know the easy way to fix it would be to just push the lines down a bit, but it being 235g, Too much water would siphon down into my sump during a power failure.
Any suggestions?

Drill a small hole in the return line just below the water line in the tank. That way when a siphon occurs, it will not drain the tank. Keep in mind that water will shoot out of the hole, so don't put it in a place where it will splash or shoot out of the tank I've done this and it works great, I do have to clean it every so often of coraline algae or other crud.

have you tried different types of diffusers/nozzles on the return outlets?

Picture/diagram would help, you could also heat up a nail and push it through but not sure why you dont have access to drill. Even if you had to drain 50 gal out, its better to do it right before 50 Gal drains out when it wants to. You could also T off the return with only a small flow going to the surface while the majority of the flow goes lower in the tank, this would stop siphon through the little side on loss of flow.

How do you change/switch out the nozzles?

It's a 48"x48" Corner bow front. I can hardly reach the back corner, and its acrylic, so theres a huge center brace in the way, to drill...
