White Branching Tubastrea?

Anyone know what on earth this is:

Goto jendub.com look under "new arrivals" for something called ""White Lightning" Aussie Sponge"

This thing is so cool! The best idea I have as to IDing it would be some sort of branching Tubastrea. I'm probably way off... anyone have any ideas?

It's a sponge with zoanthids on it.

Ahh, that makes more sense. So these things probably don't last all that long considering that the zoanthids most likely kill the sponge they're living on.

The zoanthids have a symbiotic relationship with the sponge, and dont kill their host. No personal experience with them but from what I understand they both require feeding, and are non photosynthetic. Survival rates are poor.

I have one of these in my tank

It is a branching sponge that contains symbiotic white polyp anenomes!

It needs very high flow and feeding with lots of phyto(sponge) and lobster eggs/cyclops for the polyps and dark conditions.

The sponge in my tank bleached a bit where the light hit it. Bad thing is if the sponge disintegrate so does the polyps.

Not much is known about this species but if you all go onto ultimatereef.net and look for a guy called jacksok he has a great non photosynthetic tank with one of these in it.

I don't care much about the sponge. I just wish I could get ahold of some bone-white zoanthid polyps like those. But it sounds like they can only live on the sponge.

yeah its an australian sponge my friend brought in a bunch and ill tell you they're gorgeous, i didnt pick one up cause they're a few dollars but were massive, still gorgeous none the less. the polyp extension on them are crazy also....beautiful, if you get the chance dont let it pass you by. i wish i had a bigger tank so i coulda gotten one...some day, some day i'll get one!
