how do i get rid of it???

take all your fish out of the display tank and set up a Quarantine tank. then you need to medicate the fish

wat is a quarantine tank exactly do i have to go out and buy another fish tank because my tank is only a 20 gal. and how long will the fish live before dying if they do

hours days years without treating them they will probobly die quickly the case of ich sounds bad

dont freak out a QT tank can be set up for relitivly little money

a ten gallon tank is usually about 10 bucks and a small powerfilter 30 bucks max then all you need is a few small peices of pvc pipe for the fish to hide in

the fish have to be out of the tank for at least a month for the ich to die in the tank. they live in the rock and sand and will die without fish to host on but it takes a month.

what other fish are in the tank with the clowns?

i got the fish yesterday and the onyl other fish in there i have is a chromis but i have 2 snails and a few hermits but i started the tank about a month ago, the ammonia spiked and went bak down and i let the tank cycle for a month and then i put the clown fish in yesterday and now i woke up this mornin wit the white specks all over but i am at school right now if i get home in about an hour can i take the fish out and put in a bucket for like half an hour so i can go get a small tank???

copper medication

leave the inverts get out the chromis and the clown and put them in the qt

dont use a bucket wait to take them out till you have the QT up and running
can you get the premixed saltwater in your area?
where in NY are you?

uhh yea when i left to school this morning the clown had a bunch of white spots all over him now there is basically nothing???? wat is this about??

Let's not jump the gun, GSMguy...white spots can be more than just Ich.

My Ocellaris clowns had white spots on them one night, the next morning the spots were gone but both fish were acting ill.

I would certainly go out and buy a 10g tank, an HOB filter, a heater, a thermometer, and some "eggcrate" style light diffuser (Lowes, Home Depot should sell it) to cut to size to cover the tank to be sure nothing jumps. Also, how do you measure your salinity?

If you've got a refractometer, Hyposalinity is (IMO) the safest way to treat for Ich, if that's what they've got. Slowly over three days or so bring the specific gravity down to 1.009 and hold it there for at least 4 weeks after the last visible sign of illness. If you're using a hydrometer, they are notoriously inaccurate and copper might be the way to go. The benefit of copper is that it will likely kill any parasite, whereas there are several that are not affected by hypo.

what were the white spots if they were not ich?

i jsut called y lfs and he said that is it is stress ich from just putting him in the tank and they said to leave the light off for the rest of the day until tommorow morning and turn it back on to see if the spots came back and if they did then shut the light back off but i am goin to go bring some water to the lfs for them test and he said to put stress coat in the water.
