White eggcrate linked to micro algae outbreaks...

Anybody notice an increase in slimy/snot like algae (dinos possibly) after adding a piece of new white eggcrate to their tanks? I buy mine from Lowe's. I recently read that the product applied in manufacturing process to get the eggcrate to release from its mold, contains phosphates. Just wondering if anyone notices any algae outbreaks at or around their eggcrate or in their system after adding eggcrate somewhere. I am going to soak any piece I plan on using in the future in vinegar. Heck, maybe even QT my eggcrate...:lol:

That's why I clean everything I buy before adding it to the tank. I clean non aquarium stuff even better.
