White Eye

Back in June I was treating my tank with cupramine. During treatment, my butterfly eyes got cloudy. the right one cleared up, but the left still has white over the center of the eye. It looks like it is inside the eye. They eye is still a little popped out.

I am assuming that the eye is lost at this point but wanted to double check to see if there is anything I should try.

He seems fine otherwise.

Here is a pic from June

Be interested in hearing what others say about this..I have a fish with the same problem..I dont think its regular popeye, but maybe a bacterial infection of the eye..
Hoping Jay Hemdal will comment on this one & possible treatment...

I think it is bacteria too resulting from a secondary infection while treating with cupramine.

Back at the end of July I did a paraguard dip and it cleared up the right eye, but I think the left was too gone. I should have did a dip sooner.

After the cupramine, the LFS recommended prazipro so I did a treatment with that, before really knowing what it treats. After reading, I think the prazipro did little since it was bacteria and not something like Flukes. I think this was evident in that the eye did not get better after prazipro.

I did a second dip in August but it did not make the left eye any better than it is now. Considering it has been like this for a couple of months, I assume the white is no longer an infection, rather the lasting results of the infection and will not get better.

Before the first dip, both eyes were cloudy (one always worse than the other), the fish was not eating and I think he was blind. Shortly after the first dip, the one eye cleared up and he started to eat again. Now he seems fine, but the one eye has the white in it.

However, I am still new to this so my assumption could be wrong and I am open to any ideas.

The first thing I think of when someone says cloudy eye is flukes. Have you used prazipro?

I did one treatment of Prazipro after the eye clouded up back in June after the cupramine. I am pretty sure it is not flukes, but bacteria. It has been the same size white for around 2 months now. Wondering if there is a way to reverse or if the eye is gone and it will jsut stay white.

I wonder if this is more common with this fish, I have this bannerfish with what I think is the same condition. I had her in QT, treated with cupramine, prazipro and paraguard, she looked great, I put her in the DT and within a day she had this white bump on her eye and the eye very slightly protruding, I can't catch her so she has lived with this for almost a year now. She is otherwise very healthy but her eye always has this white bump on it, it seems to be bigger at times. I would love to catch her and treat it but she may have permenant dammage to her eye by now?

I an new to the hobby and been reading a lot. My best guess on my butterfly is it was a secondary bacterial infection that happened during the cupraimine treatment for ich.

I am assuming that it has been so long the eye is lost and will remain white (it is just the pupil under the lens), but I figured I would as here. Like your bannerfish, the butterfly seems healthy other than for the eye. At times it does seem to miss some food. I assume it is because it can see out of only one eye.

Well the butterfly still has the white on the eye, although the white looks a littel less white.

I did remove a trigger a few weeks ago since it was harassing other fish and nipping the fins. Since then, the fins on the butterfly are better (did not realize how bad they were), but I am not sure if the white eye is better.

I have not treated the fish and do not want to if the eye is a lost cause. Anyone thing I should try some type of hour long dip?
