white hard dots on equipment

never really thought about them until my rio pump failed and i took it out to clean it. i have these hard little white spots on all my equipment. what is this stuff? i just assumed everyone had them but now i wonder if its some indication of something bad.

Possibly vermitid snails. They will go away after while.

I don't know much but I wonder if it could be calcium or magnesium deposits

Could be spirorbid worms.

+1 on the spirobid worms. They will form all over your stuff. I have the in the fuge as well as my 2 overflows

ah. definitely spirobid worms. they're always coiled up now that i stare at them really closely. they're really hard and rough when i grab my powerheads for cleaning. i assume they're not "bad"?

Nope not bad, you can scrape them off and likely they will start to fade away.
