Hey guys, i don't know if this should go under fish diseases...

I got a little problem... I beleive i got both white ich and Black ich in my brute salt container mix and pipes ???. thus could infect my displays if i mix my salt....

didn't know i had black Ich in my second DT until i noticed some on my Hippo tang (not the other fish though).

Unfortunately, before i start noticing Blackich i used some of the pumps/powerheads/heaters that were in the DT2 sump to mix my salt in the brute container in my garage 60' away..

A brute container is like $40 bucks and everything inside (pump, powerhead, heater) is probably worth $150 or so... no way im gona throw away $200 bucks just because of blackich.

I want to somehow clean and keep using my brute container to mix my salt as usual wihtout the risk to give ich back to both display....

But if i use the salt mix made in this container i do not want to contaminate my other reef tank using that salt water mix from that container which i beleive don't have any blackich yet..

Cleaning the Brute container cannot be done because the pump pumping out the water to the DT2 is all piped. That means i will have to clean the pump and clean the 60' pipe ???

I'm not sure how to get rid of black ich now (presuming i have black ich the salt water container....

So cleaning the pipe is not a solution. dipping the pump in pure vinager, but i don't think i want to flush the pipe with vinager... and Flushing the pipe would be easier.. but i heard that black ich can survive in the air for years..

I don't want to throw Prazipro or any form of med in the brute container...

Only few choices left.

1- Should i raise the temperature of the brute container to say 100f ? if so for how long... but i heard black ich can survive temp up to 350f and i need to mix salft soon... and i have no other pump or heater left... i dont want to buy a new brute, heater and pump... just because im that paranoid... know what i mean..

1- Should i lower the temp to say 30f ? if so for how long, but i heard black ich can survive temp as low as 0f (deepfreeze)

1- Should i just put RODI water in there and leave it for a while before adding salt ?... i heard blackich can survive in freeshwater. Plus i need to mix salt soon...

Any suggestion ?

Or should i just live with blackich forever ?

I would say just throw some bleach in there, let it all drain out and then keep flushing with tap water. But I'm not sure what bleach would do to your pump. Vinegar would be the safer option, but I'm not 100% sure that by itself will kill Ich/Black Ich without letting it dry thoroughly afterwards.

I think raising the temp may be your best option. Raising the temp to 40C (104F) for 1hr kills both Ich tomonts & theronts. I can only assume the same holds true for Black Ich.
