White or Black Background

SO I want everyone opinions. I have one 10 gallon setup on one side of the couch with a black background. I just setup another tank last night on the other side of the couch. I have not painted it yet. What would look better a black or white background. Has anyone seen or have have pictures of a tank with a white background? Thanks

I have never seen a white background before. It would reflect more light back into the tank, however, it may make any algae growth on the glass more apparent.....

Maybe just take some computer paper and stick it on the back to see if you like it before making it permanent. I know that when I had a lighter blue background, it showed more algae growth quicker than on my black background tank....but that may cause you to clean it more often and having a more healthy tank overall......just brainstorming....

Do you think white would cause a big problem with the light reflecting?

From the test down on the link Bdawg posted the color should make a drifference as long as it isn't selled with an oil sticky to the tank.

It was an interesting presentation. If you paint the background on it will absorb light but if it is just reflective paper like you buy at the pet store than it deosn't affect the reflectivity of the light. It still bounces as if there is no paper.

I doubt that the light would reflect off the background....the glass should make the light reflect more than any background when filled with water.....unless the background is painted on.....

Mine is cement on 3 sides and has corals growing on it , but i would think a white back would make one look nasty real quick from algae growth. Even the coraline would look bad against a white background IMO.
