White Pod Growing on Zoa Frag

Picked up this frag on Thursday last week, and I noticed this white pod on Friday. Anything to be concerned with?

Hmm, I hadn't considered it being a sponge. Its growing directly on top of a polyp that hasn't opened.

Look up pineapple sponge. If thats what it is, it won't hurt it but may keep that zoa from opening. You should be alright to pull it off, but I can't say for sure.

I went ahead and removed the white pod this morning. I'll update everyone this evening once I check out the poly again.

If it pulled right off, it probably isn't disease or infection. Did you not dip your coral?

I did a Lugol's dip prior to placing it in my tank. It did pull right off, but I used pliers instead of tweezers so its hard to say how easily it pulled off.

It is a common sponge that grows with zoas in their natrual habitat, just pluck it off.
