White Spots All Over Tank Glass

Pictures are micro feather-dusters. They are harmless filter feeders that make a hard tube. If they are multiplying quickly then there is lots of nutrients floating around in the water for them to feed on.

Or they are baby aptasia. When aptasia are tiny, they look kinda like that.

Hmm. Interesting comment. I did find a single Aptasia anemone on a small piece of live rock (little piece with Xenia coral on it) that I just recently bought at my local LFS. I bought several little pieces as that is all they had at the time and noticed the Aptasia after a few days and removed the infected frag. About a day after removing it I noticed the little white things. I am hoping that it is not baby Aptasia however they sure do look similar.

Attached is a pic of the frag that I discarded. It may be hard to see in the picture however what I think was Aptasia is right below the Xenia. It looks like a mini anemone with white bands on its tentacles. It was only in my tank for a few days however I realize that these bastards can spread like wild fire.

Please help. It appears that we have some kind of parasite or funk in our tank that is multiplying fast. Our fish have Ich and we've been working on solving that problem with garlic and kick Ich now all of the sudden the white spots have appeared.

Any advice?

I know you didn't ask, but garlic and Kick Ich will not rid you tank of Ick. There are only 3 ways to cure Ick. Please go to the Ick sticky thread in the Reef Discussion forum.
