Hello so my 54 all-glass tanks glass is cloudy and has white spots in it .
I contacted them and this is what they said
"After looking at your provided photographs, and reviewing your situation with several parties, this is what we have determined.
It looks to be either calcium scale or a chemical residue on the inside of the tank. Best thing to do would be to drain the tank down a little bit until an area is uncovered. Use a rag dipped in plain distilled white vinegar and rub the glass in a circular motion for a few minutes. Let it dry and then repeat again with fresh vinegar. Then wipe it with freshwater and refill. Try the same thing on the outside of the tank as well in case it’s a chemical residue from some type of cleaning agent. If its calcium scale it should clear right up. Most chemicals will also dissolve away in the presence of the acid. Glass itself cannot become cloudy like that. And it does not appear to be fine scratches. What leads me to lean towards chemical residue is that it’s much more visible under the actinic light. Actinics produce some UVA which will cause many chemicals to fluoresce (like corals) making them more visible.
What are your thoughts Is this safe to use the vinigar inside my tank ? IF this worked I would have to remove ALL of the water to get the full glass clean and most of you know that is not posible with fish in a reef tank . Will I need to remove all of my coarls to try this ?
Thanks for any thoughts
I can email pix if anyone would like to see
Thanks !!
