I was posting a pic of a hitchhiker for ID in reef discussion when
I noticed these spots in my own picture.

What is this?

The button polyps have not shown any signs of trouble.

I hope this is not considered a double post. If I had noticed
the spots I would have posted here first.

Could be zoa pox...that stuff will wipe out whole colonies pretty fast. If you notice that the polyps start to stay closed and seem to rot away then its zoa pox. Check out this link...

Zoa Pox

Possible solutions

hope that helps

They look like polychate worms! Seriously! Look at the ones closest to the front, they've got a spiral to them!

If it is, I have no idea if they'd harm them, though I couldn't see why they would>_> Strange :P

Yeah, I've pretty well decided that they are calcarious in nature
and therefore not the plague. Thanks.

Good catch Riona,
I had prety much overlooked them. I saw those closed polyps and white spots around the rim of the head and immediately thought the worst. You are correct on the worms you can even see one extended on that frontmost stem.
