white stuff on Pink coraline algae

Our tank is 8 months old and all of a sudden some white (sugar looking) coating is forming most notably on the pink coraline algae. It's also apparent on sides of tank and on all the rock. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is it bad? How do you control it? :)

When coraline dies it turns white. You should check your calcium & alk. They need to be stable & not have big swings for coraline to thrive.
