Anyone have experince with this fish. Live aquaria put it in the smaller tank section looks cool but i cant find much info on it.

I will get one when im ready if its avalible. Looks awesome on live aquaria. Dont know how to post pics its on the second page of tangs on live aquaria

I'd love to see a picture also. My Tomini Tang has a white tail so I wonder if they have any other similarities.

Well im a good ways from bieng ready for one. But since its good for a 90 gallon tank and they look awesom and they are cheap it will be my show fish when i get to that point. My biggest worry is that live aquaria says its a new item but none avalible. 2nd im not sure the picture does it true justice.

There was a thread on this fish a while back. I can't get the search to work right now, but it was something like "winner winner chicken dinner". I wonder how red it will be or stay.

Good question Frank. I searched google and found something that looked similar that was called a blue lips tang. It wasnt as vibrant as the LA pic. If all goes well i will be on an active hunt for one by summer. I think i will put this as fish # 5 on my stock list. Wish me luck. If one of you gets one before me PM me.

Looks like a nice cross between the tomini and kole as an adult. According to Wiki (will be down in a couple hours) they start out yellow. Liveaquaria has the size to about 6.5" but doesn't mention anything about the juvi coloration.

From wiki:
Ctenochaetus flavicauda is a Tang from the Pacific Ocean. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 11.8 cm (4.6 in) in length, making it the smallest ctenochaetus tang, and also the smallest acanthurid. As a juvenile it is a bright yellow color, as an adult it is reddish brown color with orange colored fine horizontal striping, the tail is white and the eye is ringed by bright yellow.

Fishbase has a juvi yellow pic of it if you click on the

Then here's an interesting spin, what I've been able to find is it's one of the smallest tangs out there yet this site says up to 15" which I Think is wrong but does of a adult/juvi picture as well from what looks like fishbase.

Quality marine has a nice looking adult pictures too.

WWM says size to about 5", doesn't mention the yellow juvi stage, but mentions it has a picture of a juvi and an adult but shows what may be two adults?

Thats some good research jason thanks. Another mystery is the price on LA. Juvis are well under 50 adults are over 500. Something is fishy about that fish

I noticed that too. My guess is that is a typo and supposed to be $59.99.

I would be surprised if it only got to 4.5", but even at 6 inches that is a smaller tang and could be suitable in lots of tanks.

I think I want one. I wonder if these will pop up on divers den first. I'm guessing 6-7" for max size and most will probably be around 5-6" so about the size of a tomini. Still don't think I would put one in a 55g. 75 would be great.
