I have these white twirls all over my tank back wall and on hermit shells. I thought it was snail eggs.i have cerith snails, nerites, bumble bee snails.... But now I'm confused because in my 20 gallon long quarantine tank I have them on my back wall and on the 1 hermit.... It never had snails in it. All I transferred is 2 little pieces of rock from display tank to qt tank..... Anyone know what these are...

They are a type of calciferous tube worm. Harmless, but they spread fast. I can't seem to find the name right now, but I'll find it shortly.

Edit: they are Pileolaria.

I've had mine for months a d they don't really get much bigger they are when you first notice them. They will multiply though.

I got mine while I was running cheap eBay LEDs. The ones that can't even grow bad algae. But now that I've been running my six bulb T5. They haven't multiplied as fast but they aren't dropping in numbers either. My six line wrasse seems to pick at them a little and that keeps him from harassing my yellow watchman goby as much, so I'm good with them.
