Who all has blue throats in there reef?

I have a male that's about 6" in my 125 gallon. He took a bite out of my zoas when I had them in my hand, but quickly realized he didn't like them. He's been coral-safe so far, and I have a little bit of everything. His aggression is minimal, only thing he even considered harassing was a new tang that he was more or less just curious about. For the most part, he's a push-over. He's left the hermits and emerald crabs alone. I need to add a couple of peppermints when my LFS gets them back in stock, so we'll see how he is with them.

I would not trust him (or my wrasses) with sexy shrimp. Been thinking about a Harlequin, but I can't find any that aren't tiny so I'm not going to risk it.

So far, great fish with a great personality in the wopping 3 months I've had him in the display.

Oh, and he'll over-eat, then regurgitate from time to time. The anthias love it because he'll do it right in front of the MP40, so they get moar food!

i have had a pair in my 125g for a few months. the male about 6" and the female 3 or 4" they are extremely docile as far as triggers are concerned, and mine have yet to even notice any of my coral, and i have a mix like the poster above me. they both are great eaters, but are less active than my other triggers, probably due to intimidation as there is no actual aggression as of now.

have about a 5 inch fella,.super cool but if it ain't heavy or glued well it will be upside down

sent from my iphone slayer

I have a pair in my 180.. By far my favorite fish in the tank...been in the tank for just under a year now and NEVER have touched any coral.. As far as shrimp, my male lets my blood shrimp clean him all the time. Female is a big sissy and doesn't come out until m.h. come on, while my male is out 24/7.

cool, i love triggers and will be getting a pair of them, would they bother my fire shrimp?

i havnt tried them with shrimp. but mine dont even poke around in the rocks like other triggers do, they are totally focused on the water column all the time. This leads me to believe shrimp have a decent chance at not being on their menu.

Well that does bring up some concern lol looks like im going to be investing in some more epoxy putty. There such a pretty fish, I would love to see some more pictures of them in the reef setting.

I have a 6"+ male in my reef. Hasnt eaten any snails, crabs or shrimp. Doesnt touch any of my corals except my branching candy cane. No matter where I put it in the tank he finds the need to pick it up and throw it around. Very odd as its the only piece he consistently picks up and moves. So I took them out..in my opinion worth the sacrafice so I can keep the fish.

Most will do fine, with the exception of motile inverts. Every once in a while someone will have one that decides to take out other fish, that's much less common (you just have to be mentally prepared for the possibility. Letting any other animals be established first maximizes the chances of success.

I've got about a 4" male and mine doesn't really bother anything. Probably my favorite fish in the tank.

One thing about triggers....they put down LARGE amounts of food quickly. First one in and last one out at dinner time. Really aggressive feeders that may bother more timid slower feeders.

I'll try and get a photo of him when the lights come on

I keep a pair in my 150g and would consider the fish easy and reef safe. Although they haven't touch any invertebrates and corals, I have observed the pair hunt in the sand.
