What do you guys use to dip corals?

Softies?

Stonies?

Can you explain your technique for one that has never dipped. Thanks

uhh i dipped corals once. I used lugols to dip sps frags. drip about 5 - 10 drops in the bag and shake it for about 30 seconds and then rinse it off with fresh saltwater then put in tank.

I know, not the most successful way, but I never had bugs.

The best way to keep bugs out is buy from other reefers that you know have no bugs.

I use lugols and fwe on all soft stuff and lps for about 1/2 hour. I'm not sure if it's sufficient time or ?? I probably should study up more on it but I haven't.

On sps I used to interceptor and fwe it over about 10 hours if I remember correctly. I've been out of interceptor for about 6 months, then have done nothing since then on any corals. I started feeling guilty so I have a few in a qt tank for about a month.

Tropic Marine Pro Coral Cure.

It works really well, but can be pricey.

If you use it for a quick dip use alot, way mroe than the dosage.
If you have time to dip use the recommended does.
The directions are a german translation and they advise to redip your corals after a "fortnight".

It works against AEFW and other flat worms, protizoan infections, amphipods, copepods, isopods, euniciid worms, fire worms, any worms really.
Red bugs it seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes they just don't want to die. I would use the dog medicine for those.

Lugols is okay for washing slime away....

TMPCC and Interceptor combined then are probably the best shot. I am going to get some of these goodies for new additions from here on out. Just to be safe.

Since this was suppose to be for newbie dippers, I do not really understand. Can you explain it in detail? Also, how do you dip fish?

reggae fish whats funny =D

There is no LFS that treats all their corals. We just had this conversation on another thread. It's just not feasible do to the volume. In fact, there are several people on here that work/worked at LFSs and I know they would agree

make shure its pre diped...or dont buy it... the store i go to does... makes lfs more money...they dip somthing that takes a few min and custermer has a good peice of coral that wont have bugs and servival rate is alot higher...which means more money for them because of return customers

huh?
welcome to america!

What I mean is that would be in a perfect world and that it does make sense however it's simply not the case. At least not in this area.

However, seeing that no LFS that I'm aware of treats and QT's every coral coming in especially what would be considered appropriate amount of time, means a simple dip while leaving the store would do you little good.
Especially with SPS in regards to things like redbugs and AEFW.

I have never dipped a thing and I never will... But at the same time my favorite game is Russian roulette :D

yeah. i dont and never have worked at a lfs yet.
want to open my own. and the crap about having too many corals too dip them all is an excuse. you dont get a hole store full of corals at once, you develop them over time. its EASY to dip them. especially if you care about your customers which i know isnt a perfect world, but cmon at least an effort.
i know personally my corals are dipped before i get them and i look over them before placing. i dont do much with stonies though. like i said i dont dip, i make sure the ones i buy are already dipped, and not as im jogging out the store, im a lil more intelligent than that reggae ;)
