Who has dipped religiously yet still got an sps pest?

i have, i dip everything in melafix and have still got AEFW, problem is it doesnt kill the eggs.

i also got ich in my DT somehow even tho i QT everything in hypo for 6 weeks....

but then again i am a complete loser in general in life.

I use Coral Rx & Lugol's for dips...and I still got Montipora Eating Nudibranchs and AEFW in my QT (this was a while back). That's why I dip, use a QT, and have a grow-out tank...all before corals go into my main display. You can't expect to have 100% success with just a dip. Eggs hatch, critters can hide, etc.

I agree. I've used both Melafix and CoralRx and still got AEFW. I even remove all base of the corals to avoid eggs (although tossing the encrusted part is a bit heartening...). Both these products will EVENTUALLY kill the worms but they don't die on contact. Some AEFW don't detach/fall away from the coral even after 15 minutes. I now double the dosage strength and leave the corals in the medication with a pump for nearly 30 minutes. Luckly haven't had AEFW problems so far with this approach.

Totally agree! I would also add that red bugs will make it through all those feel good dips too.

Dips can help and definately can't hurt but if you don't QT also, you will eventually lose.

wow 30 minutes and your corals lived ? Mine didn't do so well lost all the smooth skinned acro in 10 minutes of revive ..
