I think this product was recent? If it is, then not many would have used it yet. However, my LFS has it as a retro and it looks nice.

I had the set up with 150w HQI's. They worked best for a mixed tank. I was able to keep SPS near the top and had decent color and growth. The light was not bright enough for SPS at the bottom in some areas. Much better for zoanthids, mushrooms and that type of coral at the bottom. It was a nice light for a 18" tall tank. For my 24" tank it was not enough. If your tank is taller than 18" get a 250 watt MH set up, if you want to go SPS dominant.

i seen plenty pf peeps use them but since they all have such low profile the reflectors can be only so deep. This results in poor reflection of light. I see tiawans and i seen Germans both seem to have same results. Although i have not use a set personaly. I do know you can keep sps even at the bottom of your tank but only in certain areas.

I have seen almost all of these units and IMO they suck for those looking for brightly lit tanks. Work great for softies and zoas.

There is a few issues with these. First, they use electronic ballasts on HQI's and as you may or may not know, HQI's perform better on magnetic ballasts.

Also, they use PC's....:thumbdown

I use electronics and magnetics with my 250 de pendants and I like the eletronic better. They give me better bulb color and life.

The only things that magnetics do for DE bulbs is overdirve them changing color and shorting the life of the bulb by overdriving them. IMO

Well I have always used Magnetic ballasts on HQi's so I can't speak from experience but I can say from what I have heard the magnetic ballast drive HQI's better and I believe it starts them better than an electronic.
