Who here uses u/v ??

A thought crossed my mine about employing a u/v sterilizer for my new system. I have never used one nor hav I ever quarantined my fish. Thankfully I never experienced a case of ich.

With my new system, I want to add a pb tang and hear they are notorious for having ich. All my fish have come from PW and I will continue to get fish from there. Should I get a u/v unit? Who has/had one, what brand and did you stop using it.

I have a gamma 25w on my 90 setup. I heard all the pros & cons but everyone with a successful setup that I have seen employed a UV sterilizer in their setup. I have never had any ick or any other diseases / parasites.

how does the UV affect your pod, mysid population?

or do you harvest in another tank?

I use a UV too and i dont notice any difference with pods and stuff. They flourish in my refugium

I used to use UV and switched to ozone. I like the ozone better only because it makes the water crystal clear

IMO,
I find no difference in tanks that UV is applied and tanks that I don't and that's 20+ years of doing so. Slow flow, dwell time, clean quartz glass sleeve, change bulbs regularly..... all done but really still don't see a worthwhile difference.

Because it's hard to prove a negative, it works so well.

Had one on each of mine since the tanks were new.
