Who is right? Cabbage Leather (Flower Leather) placement?

Marinedepotlive says this is a low light coral and LiveAquaria says medium to high. That is a huge difference IMO. Which would be correct? LOW or med to HIGH?

thanks
Ben

It requires at least a low light environment (i.e. power compact), but is tolerant of higher lighting applications (i.e. metal halide). (This is really dependent on the type, watts, and amount of bulbs)

If you are interested in keeping one, give us some information on your lighting system and we can tell you the ideal location in your aquarium. Another factor will be the benefit of strong water movement...

thanks for the reply, I have a 4ft tank(a 120gal) I have 2 250w DE HQI 10k with 2 T5 actinics.

If you purchase one from an aquarium with a less intense lighting system, it would be best to photoacclimate the coral to its new environment. But, it will certainly be able to tolerate a higher position in your aquarium. Because of this, I would focus more on placing it in regards to your water-movement, current corals, and future additions. It will need to be placed in an area with moderate to strong water movement; and, you don't want it taking up valuable real estate up high if it is suitable to be placed in a lower position.

The LFS had it under PC lights or similar if i remember correctly. I have been keeping the Coral in the lower third of the tank. As far as flow, it get indirect flow from the front glass where my 2 tunze's face. I cannot get a high flow to it otherwise i will have a sand storm, unless i put it on the sandbed. I am just concerned if i did move it to the sandbed, would that be adequate light? And after reading both Live and Marine giving two differnet answers i wasnt sure if moving to my only other high flow area(the sandbed in the corner) was a good idea or not.

I think I will see if i can direct more flow to its current location otherwise i will put it on the sandbed in the corner where i know there is good flow.

Thanks Jared for your help! Seems like it might be a trial and error thing.

The indirect flow from your TUNZEs is probably fine.

The things to look for are that it is fully extended (not curled in) and that there is little or no detritus accumulating on the coral.
