who is the best?

the best hands down are AGE and ELos, you have to have your lfs contact AGE or dan at the salty critter can get you a quote, elos has a forum on here where you can inquire about custom work.

Others to look at are miracles in glass and aquarium obsessed.

i have always been impressed with miracles in glass, but they are in canada, still very nice tanks. there is a newer company that has good prices and great customer service called Ocea, i would check them out as well.

yeah they were at our frag expo a few months ago....nice people, good quality work & pices comprable to glasscages

if glasscages wasn't such a short drive for me, they are who i'd be getting stuff from

If I did go with glass cages, would they still be considered good though? I mean Im not gonna get the tank and have leaks, poor construction quality, stuff like that?

im in the same boat im looking for a good price on a custom tank and was going to go with glass cages but this ocea aquariums looks good too, all the tank builders like AGE, AO, and miricles are expensive.

I ordered a 180g tank from ocea about a week ago and ty was great to work with but since I don't have the tank yet I can't speak to their build quality. Hopefully I will in the near future though.

when i was looking to do a nano tank out of a 24x24x24 (sectionalize off the back 6" for in-tank filtration) they were about 10% over glasscages website price

one of my local club members ordered a 60 cube from them & i believe he is quite impressed w/ his tank

There are always arguments;) I would say the "best" is the company who builds quality products, stand behind their product and tailors to you the buyer;) Hard to find the ones that do all three but they are out there!

How long does it typically take for a customized aquarium to get to the room its going in? From ordor to arival say.

Depends elos takes the longest because they are built in Italy, but a couple months is about average give or take 2 weeks.

Glass cages has a delivery schedule that I think is posted online apparently you have to go meet them in a parking lot somewhere and they give you your tank.

When I placed my order from ocea about a week ago, he told me 4 weeks because they had a lot of builds right now. I would guess anytime between 2 weeks and a month would be average.

It took about 9 weeks for my custom tank to arrive in 2004. But this was a very large tank. It took 2 weeks for my current one to arrive.

How do I get in contact with Dan at the salty critter for a custom Age aquarium? Also, would you guys say ocea is good? If im paying extra money for an aquarium, I would like it nice. I would rather spend extra, and get a good quality job, as opposed to paying less and getting garbage. Thanks.

sounds like money is not an issue. if thats the case the italians do glass better than anyone. order an Elos.

measure twice, cut once.

I wouldn't go with glasscages again. They write directly on the tank so it took me about 45 minutes to get it all washed off. There were tiny specks of silicone on the front of the glass that I couldn't get off with a razer blade for some reason. Air bubbles in the actual silicone. The glass edge's weren't even aligned perfectly. No option to have the tank dropped off at your pad. I had to drive to bfe for a freight shipping depot in the rain because they charge you for every day the tank is there. Not easy transporting wet glass fyi.
