Getting everything together to set up my 125 and thinking about trying to go with mostly SPS. Need to know the minimums on lights and other things that I need to have to be successful in growing these types of corals. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Flow, Flow, Flow..stability,stability,stability..... The main thing with SPS is the right parameters with stability. As starters: Alk at 9-10, Calcium at 450, Mg at 1350-1500, RO/DI at 0ppm, Phosphates at.02 min., temp at 77-80, Nitrates and Nitrites as low as possible. Get a good skimmer(oversize it as a lot of SPSers do). I would get good test kits and recommend: Lamotte for KH, Elos for Mg, Elos or API for Ca. Either dose for Ca,ALk, and Mg using dosing pumps or get a Ca reactor or setup Kalk reactor(or drip). I test at least once a week for Ca,Mg,Kh. Invest in a refractometer. I run carbon and GFO thru reactors. Look up BulkReefSupply. And most of all... read,read,read-chemistry and sps threads. RC is a good place to get ideas.

palawan gave a good summary. :)

At the top of the MTRC forum, you can also find a list of good articles that fishdoc11 put together a few years back after a presentation he did. You will also find a lot of good information in those posts.
