do you have any problems that are from the anemones?

to what do you attribute your success?

they are clones. one is about 12" diameter and the other is only about 6". they seem very happy.

i feed Eric's recipe daily plus other stuff at the second feeding.

a few weeks ago i put two RBTA's in my tank. since then my Favia has lost some polyps. the favia is also near a green star polyp corals that did win the war with a Hydnophora. also the nearby frogspawn has contracted some of the heads so i moved it as far away as i could.

i want to get more sps corals, hence my question. i do have a couple that are not doing great right now. the rest of the lps corals are doing great.

do you run carbon, ozone?

There are many people who keep anemones with SPS. I would stay away from large types as they will cause problems down the road IMO. Many SPS tank ive seen have 1 or more BTA's. I would be more worried about your LPS then anemones as some LPS have very long sweepers and will sting allmost any thing they can reach to death. It sounds as if you need a bigger tank or just more space between corals. If you keep spacing good between livestock there isnt much you cant keep in the same tank. What kind of soft coral are you keeping with your SPS? The reason I ask is that allot of leathers and soft corals will give off toxins that will kill or just make sps very unhealthy.

I had no problem with my BTA until it doubled in size and started stinging two of my SPS corals. It finally split and now it cannot reach them anymore.

I have too BTAs and a Haddoni in my SPS tank. The only minor issues I have had was when the BTA split, the clone when on walkabout for a little bit. However I was able to move the frags in time. The BTAs haven't moved in over a year, and I even moved the tank, but magaged to get the rock work pretty much the same.
As for the Haddoni, the only issue I have is if a frag falls onto it. I've lost a few frags that way -- unless I get the frag out of the carpet right away, it is a goner.

I've had GBTA's for over five years and have lost only one coral-a hydnophora frag several years ago. Even when the anemones stretch out, they don't seem to do a whole lot of damage to my sps. Right now, the big momma is touching a M. cap for several hours a day and it only shows slight signs of stress. No big issues, though. Someone had one spawn a few months ago, but I'm pretty sure there were no losses to sps...

Mine spawns many times per year (for about the last 8 years) and it, too, has little effect on 'sps' corals.

i've got 5 in my mixed reef - 4 green btas and a rose. they take out my softies (zoos, palys) and don't bother my sps really at all.

thank you all. i will quit worrying about the RBTA's. i guess it was probably the Frogspawn or pearl coral that was stinging the Favia and killed it.

It appears that my BTA spawned yesterday. It looked like smoke coming out of the mouth for at least a few hours. It made the tank so coudy that you could barely see from one end to the other (4 ft). Everyting looked okay this morining and most of the coudiness disapeared. Does anyone know if this is a normal occurance? I have had the anemone for over 2 years and this is the first time I have seen it. If anyone has any additional information on this, please share.

I had heard that if a BTA "walks" over an SPS, you can more or less kiss the SPS goodbye, but that the softies, zoas, etc (and I think LPS, but am not sure) "bounce" back. I have resisted adding one due to the worry of the anenome going on "walk about" and taking out a prized coral (say an oregon tort, or some other LE). But the family wants one for our ocellaris and I may well lose that battle.. *sigh*.

Mine is in constant contact with my Monti cap and only shows a little whiter were it is touching it. It has been like this for about 3 months now and the cap is growing and doing well.
