Who uses dosers

Hey guys trying to figure out if automatic dosing is worth it versus dosing manually. (Looking to get more into acros) my system is small it's a 30 gallon but would like others input thanks

I don't use dosers but I do use kalk in my ATO. For me, it works best.

I would imagine that I'll need to start from this method when my demand gets higher.

Started dosing manually at the beginning. Only lasted couple months before i was like thats it and went out and bought a doser.

Doser...
And to be honest new Profilux Doser is amazing. Well worth the price of admission!

I use a DOS with my Apex and I have to say it's awesome, once you dial in your dosing amounts it's great. I had a Eshopps doser before and had good experience with it as well. My reason for switching the DOS was because I wanted something that I can keep an eye on those times I have to travel on business.

Its worth it! I used to dose manually in my Ghetto Tank. Then I got a doser a few months in and I couldn't believe how much I loved it! Would never go back to manual. From a convenience and consistency aspect, you can't beat it. On my ghetto tank I was using a Profilux doser. Thinking of selling it but it needs a new screen.

I use the jebao DP4 and it is really good kit. Once you start with a doser you will never go back to manual.

I stayed away from the Jebao doser because of reports that the doser staying on and over dosed spiking ALK and then killing tank. Might want to read a little bit about it if you have one or thinking of getting one. Probably is a risk for many dosers, but seemed to be the Jebao one that got the most complaints.

i've been using the jebao for a while and love it. Best 60 bucks I've spent for my tank. Just don't do a huge reservoir for any of the chemicals if you get an autodoser. Use a small enough amount just in case it does get stuck on. I don't care if it's a $300 doser or a $20 doser, It could happen.

I have always used the brs dosers either on a timer or an apex. Get a splitter and you only have to use one outlet

Agreed, I only add enough in the dosing containers to last a week or two max. Good built in safety margin.

This is true, but IMHO a better safety device is a ph controller. If ALk gets overdosed ph will go up quickly. You have the controller shut down the dosers.

I've had it happen with Kalk as well (ATO float valves get stuck). Ph controller shuts it down before disaster occurs.

A week or 2 of 2 part is enough to crash a tank.

Yes, 100% agreed. I have that logic running on my profilux controler, even with the more expensive doser

It has happened once, and I wont let it happen again. Think about it, why would you trust $1000+ of coral to a $60-80 doser.

Well thank you for your input you guys really appreciate it so far if I do go the route of a doser I plan on getting up Apex beforehand
