im pretty sure those are both silica sands, not the best thing to use in a reef tank. southdown is about the only good normal sand i know of, its an aranite sand. good luck finding it though
I've always used southdown/old castle/yardright which is oolitic. This time when I upgraded tanks I went with special reef grade and that has slightly larger sized grains. I've had more problems with nitrates than I have in the past. It seemed to take longer to get a good filtration to establish. I'm thinking about slowly switching the sand but that is such a pain. Maybe a remote dsb with oolitic would be easier.
