Whole tank red bugs treatments only.....

I know there's many threads about Red Bugs treatment here in RC. But my question is with the Interceptor has been discontinued for awhile now, what is the alternate medication that proved "WHOLE TANK TREATMENT" for Red Bugs. I did my homework and read every single post here, but can't find a single thread updated about this problem.
For my understanding, Bayer is work just for dipping but not for treating a whole tank, so it's out of question. And there's few others threads about chewable interceptor (Interceptor Spectrum) and another Interceptor (not Novartis) from Australia supplier that really interested read, but also dead ended.
Could you guys please post your experiences of using 2 new Interceptor medications mentioned above when you treat your whole tank? Is it safe to use in your reef tank? Any side effect to your corals? Will you recommended them as a replacement from the old Interceptor?

TIA.

I use the flavoured ones, absolutely no Issues.

corals seem to love the flavour too, they send out massive PE.

Is it a chewable ones? Sorry if too much to ask, please more specific on the medication name and dosages. There's few similar name out there and could lead to the confusions (at least to me :lmao:)

sorry, I cant remember which one they are.

I dont even think they stopped making them ... there was just some shortage some times ago.

mine is not chewable, its a white pill and on the package it said flavoured interceptor.

That's the original Interceptor Flavor Tap from Novartis which the manufacture has been shut down for awhile now:-(.

I have used the chewable tablets (Spectrum) in the same dosages as listed in other threads with success. I disovled in heated RO water before adding to the tank. I did my first treatment about a month ago, with two additional treatments each a week apart.

I haven't seen any red bugs since hour 5 of the first treatment, and have noticed corals are happier. I lost a cleaner shrimp and a few hermits that I couldnt get to, other than that my tank seems unaffected even with the praziquantel which is also in the chewable tabs.

Make sure the concentration of the active ingredient is the same for the instructions you are following (23mg milbemycin oxime in the Large Dog Chews).

Those are informations I'm looking for. Hope there's more members chime in to confirm the new medication actually harmless to your tank when killing RB.

It really does not do to much to your tank. It does: kill pods, shrimp not brittle stars. I did it 2 yrs ago and looking at the tank you would not know anything was done.

Ive done it a handful of times and it really is easy on your tank. A few times all i did was take the carbon offline, do the treatment, and put the carbon back on....no water change or anything.

Not sure but the kind i had was brown and beef flavour....i just crushed it up.

I too used the chewable tabs a few months ago with great success. Just follow the same guidelines for treatment as the original Interceptor and it should be just fine!

It was just like magic, one treatment. Pe came back, really one of the easiest fixes I have ever done.

i've used the interceptor chewable beef flavor that you can buy from australia without a prescription. the 50-100lbs dog tablet can treat 400 gallon tank. I've used it last week, half a pill for 120 gallon tank. So far i haven't seen any red bug coming back.

I did it when the tablets were available, But I can not imagine if you can feed the chewable tabs to your dog that little bit of nutrients would affect your tank. Believe me it is not a big deal.

I remember a post when I was looking into treatment, It read something like: I think I will treat my tank once a year or so just to make sure there are no bugs. I would not recommend it but the exaggeration of the ease convinced me to do it.

so what in a reef tank is this bad for aside from Pods, and RB.....

??cleaner shrimps, coral banded shrimps, snails, crabs, linkia, brittle serpent stars, clams.....

seems shrimp Can make it if dose is not way over done?

Also do most follow up with a 2nd and or 3rd treatment a week later??
