my experience is, if you try, most the medium to small companies will deal direct with you. other than that I use my wholesale accounts with premium and custom . premium has many of the items custom doesn't have. I don't have anything negative to say about custom but all things the same i prefer to order from premium because they have been such a treat to deal with.
It is interesting how this hobby skips the normal chains of distribution and all the wholesale distributors sell direct to the consumer for slightly less. This sucks for business , doubly so for LFS's but is absolutely incredible for the consumer. Allows the hobbyist to purchase a ton of equipment they would normally never be able to afford but at the same time makes it harder for for "quality" LFS to exist.
This makes the availability of local livestock much harder to find and harder for the LFS owner to properly invest in the expensive equipment required to keep these items healthy and disease free. Is what it is I guess.
