I am about to buy 80LBS of live rock for my new reef setup.

I am seeing online i can pick up Premium Fiji UN-Cured for about 3.99LB from Premium Aquatics and shipping for around 100 bucks = about $5.23 a pound

OR i can buy it from LiveAquaria and get Drs. Foster & Smith Select Fiji Premium Live Rock for about $3.50 a LB.(With shipping)

OR can get it at local fish store for around $5.50 a LB.

Which would u pick?

Anyone dealt with either LiveAquaria or PA for online purchase of live rock?

If so what were your impressions? and how was the rock? would you do it again ?

I am wanting to but it from who ever has got the best Quality.

Thanks for the Info!!

Or option 3. Buy dry rock from Bulk Reef Supply or Marco Rocks and get all the good stuff with none of the headaches (planara's, bubble algea, crabs, mojano's, aptasia, etc) and save major bucks while doing it.

And you can feel good about making minimal impact to existing reefs.

Yep, I went the BRS dry rock route. I ordered about 125lbs of their reef saver rock then a couple nice live rocks from the LFS....couldn't be happier.

Whats a good ratio of adding Live to dry...About how many pounds of each will work nicely?

All together i need about 83 Pounds in the tank to have 1 1/2 pounds per gallon.

Throw those formulas in the trash (that one and the watts per gallon one). Aqua scape the tank until it fits your viewing pleasure.

But, if I were doing it I'd add 82 pounds of dry and maybe a full pound of non porus live so I could make sure it was invader free.

This, and you could get some LR from a local reefer, sometimes as low as a $1 a pound.

I got the LR in my tank from a variety of local reefers. I paid 2 bucks a pound for it and its all came from systems that were running for several years. I feel thats the best way to go if possible.
