I have a 12 inch Hemisquilla californiensis, an 8 inch Lysiosquillina grabriuscula, and a 7 inch Odontodactylus scyllarus.
I probably also have the smallest stomatopods, sexually mature Pullosquilla lateralis at 11 mm and a Taku (tiny smasher) at 12 mm.

I remember asking you in an email once about them, and I believe that you told me that they were difficult to keep.

We've had this Hemisquilla for about 8 months. It was captured at this size and has molted only once with no growth. We typically keep them in 100 gal tanks, although a 40 will do. They tend to stay in their burrows most of the time and are hard to feed. We have found that 17 C is a good temperature to keep them. Anything under 15 or over 19 C is a problem. These are probably the most difficult stomatopods I have ever tried to keep. They are very prone to fungal infections and many standard treatments are lethal.

HAHA....I just got mine....he's about 4-5 inches also. There are pictures in my photo gallery with him in my 12 gallon tank with a Coke Can on the outside so you can see his size.
Very cool creature.....I remember killing these things and now I bought a tank just for my ONE animal!!!!
