Hi everyone,
I guess I'm not going to be able to make it this year, as much as I am looking forward to it. I broke my hip last week and can not put any weight on it for 10-12 weeks
.
However, on the bright side, there is a funny part to this story that only my fellow reefers can appreciate.
After I fell, I told my husband that I thought it would be fine in a few hours. He gets the yellow pages to go out and buy me some crutches. Of course, I said, "Oh no, please just make me a walking stick out of 1 1/2" pvc pipe". He goes out to the garage and then comes back to ask where all the T's and elbows are?? Of course, I'd returned all the good unused ones to HD & Lowes, so I told him to use some of the left over pieces. I think I ended up with part of an slightly used cutoff Durso standpipe as the elbow to the walking stick. It had a few extra connectors as I had modified it a few times it but was kinda neat as you could still see the algae in the end
.
After a call to our doctor at home to see if we could wait until morning, 2 pain pills and a muscle relaxer, he was able to lift me into the bed. I thought I'd just "cowboy up"!!. However, after a miserable night I knew by the next morning that it wasn't good. Turns out that I broke my hip in two places and they ended up putting a plate and 3 bolts in the next day. They didn't let me use my fancy walking stick (well, it was more of a hopping stick!) once they took the x-rays.
Of course, I didn't do it riding or anything fun. I actually just tripped on a dog bed while running through the house. My feet flew up and I landed smack on my side directly on my hip.
I was really looking forward to CFM as I loved it last year and I was really looking forward to seeing you all again.
However, I'll be online reading the threads and looking at all the great photos of all the beautiful corals you all will be selling and trading
!
Have a Fun Day Sunday!
